Beaches
Belize offers an infinite number of beaches for tourist enjoyment.
The coastline has a length of over 386 km with a never-ending variety
of gorgeous beaches for any possible taste. These beaches invite
travelers to a wide variety of activities and make traveling to Belize a unforgettable
experience.
Belize borders the Caribbean Sea to its East and has more than
200 islands (Cayes) that count to its territory. The mainland as
well as the islands boast beautiful, warm beaches ideal for swimming,
diving, snorkeling, sea kayaking, fishing, surfing and many other
water sports.
The beaches on the islands are pleasing its visitors with excellent
tourism infrastructure and a very laid back atmosphere. The blue
water that surrounds them is an attraction of its own and the world
class diving attracts lovers of this sport from all over the world.
The beaches on the mainland are not less attractive with some being
difficult to get to. Some areas along the coastline are protected
by national parks and wildlife refugees, which have slowed development
and deforestation in the area. |
