Caye Caulker
This
beautiful island lies just south of Ambergris Caye and about one
mile west of Belize’s barrier reef. Caye Caulker is a laid
back destination. If you catch a taxi, a golf cart is what you'll
get. A handful of streets lead through the small village of seaside
restaurants, lodges, pubs, shops and clapboard houses in many bright
colors. The barrier reef can be seen from the main road.
Caye
Caulker is reachable with a short 10-minute flight from Belize's
international and municipal airport or with a water taxi in about
45 minutes. The island is rather small with 5 miles of extension
and with a population of about 1300 people that is made up mostly
of Mestizo, but also a mix of Garifuna and Creole. The island has
remained friendly and easy-going, avoiding the commercialism of
other Caribbean destinations.
Caye Caulker has all sorts of accommodations, typically budget
to mid-range.

The atmosphere on Caye Caulker is relaxed and slow paced, perfect
for soaking up the sunrays and to enjoy the warm weather and the
picturesque scenery. Caye Caulker offers lots of activities such
as the traditional snorkeling and scuba diving, Manatee Tours, sea
kayaking, bird and crocodile watching, mainland trips and much more.
